STEVE HAYES – HEAD COACH / RUNNING BACKS
Steve Hayes, is currently in his 4th year as the head coach for the Enid Plainsmen. In addition, he also coaches the running backs for EHS. He graduated from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs and went on to get his degree from Texas Christian University majoring in Secondary Education with certificates in Government, Psychology, Health and Physical Education. He has taught and coached for 30 years. Coach Hayes was an assistant coach at Plano East in Plano, TX, offensive coordinator at Odessa High in Odessa, Texas and spent 11 years as Head Coach at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas where he compiled an 88-49 record. During that time he made the playoffs all 11 years, making the semi-finals 7 times and the finals four times, most recently in 2012. His last four years at TCA his offenses averaged 492 yards a game including his final year when the offense averaged 528 yards and 42 points per game. His overall record is 97-70.
Coach Hayes is married to Enid Public Schools Instructional Technology Specialist Mendy Hayes, and has three children. His son, Jake, is a coach at Enid High School and is married to Natalie, a kindergarten teacher at Taft Elementary. His oldest daughter Madison is married to Colton and is a teacher in Lewisville, TX. His youngest daughter, Lily, is a 5th grader at Prairie View Elementary.
