TULSA — Enid’s Gabrielle Dick, a two-time state champion doubles player, teamed with Southmoore’s Jordan Henry to beat Broken Arrow’s Shaylee Smith and Jenks’ Alix Williams, 8-2 at the All-State tennis match Tuesday at the Michael D. Case Center at the University of Tulsa.
Dick, the West’s No. 2 player, lost to Jenks’ Jenny Bond, 8-4 in singles, but that didn’t take away any from her competitive tennis finale. She will attend the University of Oklahoma, but will not play tennis.
Dick was playing with Henry, the 6A No. 1 singles champion and the No. 1-rated player on the West. While the West girls won, the final results aren’t as important as just getting there, Gaebler said.
“I’m just proud to have an All-State player in the match,’’ he said. “She could have lost both matches 6-0, 6-0 and I wouldn’t have been any less proud of her.”
